Che Apple sia pronta a portare il Face ID su Mac non è una novità e ora ne abbiamo la conferma. Stando all’indiscrezione trapelata oggi, l’azienda di Cupertino avrebbe pubblicato un brevetto per una tecnologia simile al Face ID e unicamente progettata per Mac.
La parte più interessante è che il brevetto è stato rilasciato prima che iPhone X fosse lanciato e nella descrizione troviamo delle forti analogie alla tecnologia impiegata per il Face ID. Per l’appunto si legge che il Mac automaticamente farà accedere l’utente quando è seduto di fronte al Mac.
The patent describes how Macs in sleep mode could use their camera to look for faces. This would presumably be a feature added to Power Nap, where a sleeping Mac is still able to carry out certain background activities without using much power.

Come sempre i brevetti pubblicati dall’azienda di Cupertino non vogliono dire che un dispositivo verrà rilasciato a breve o che verrà mai rilasciato, ma ci sono forti possibilità che Apple sostituisca Touch ID con Face ID in futuro.
