Durante l’evento di Lunedì Apple ha ufficialmente introdotto il supporto per le app di navigazione di terze parti in CarPlay. Adesso Waze e Google Maps potranno finalmente essere utilizzate sulle radio delle nostre auto e non solo. Apple avrebbe inoltre esteso alcune funzionalità delle app esistenti rendendole ancora più potenti.
Prima di tutto l’azienda di Cupertino ha affermato che le app “audio” riceveranno dei miglioramenti notevoli per quanto riguarda la qualità. Albert Wan, membro del team di sviluppo iOS Car Experience, ha spiegato che iOS 12 si focalizzerà su quattro novità fondamentali:
- Performance
- Avvio del sistema più rapido
- Animazioni più fluide
- Miglior comunicazione tra app
Mike Knippers, un altro membro del team iOS Car Experience, ha spiegato che il nuovo framework per il CarPlay permetterà agli sviluppatori di portare le loro app senza troppi sforzi:
“The CarPlay framework is your toolkit for building great, interactive experiences on the car screen. It uses a fixed set of templates that your apps can build and use, and iOS will translate into a UI presented on top of your app. With this, and a little bit of effort on your part, your apps will support all CarPlay systems.
Per quanto riguarda le app di navigazione, Apple permetterà di pianificare itinerari, messaggi di avviso durante la navigazione proprio come un navigatore satellitare a tutti gli effetti. Tra i messaggi di avviso farebbero parte, notifiche di arrivo a destinazione, tempo stimato, cambi di percorso e traffico in tempo reale.
Infine, Apple spera che il nuovo framework per il CarPlay permetterà agli sviluppatori di portare le app esistenti senza troppi sforzi e nel minor tempo possibile, ma a mio parere ne dubito.
