Pare che l’azienda di Cupertino stia testando un prototipo di Mac dotato di schermo touchscreen e Face ID, funzionalità che fino a oggi non sono state introdotte su alcun modello di Mac.
MySmartPrice oltre alla notizia di un nuovo computer Apple dotato di touchscreen e riconoscimento facciale, ha riferito che l’AirPower di Apple arriverà questa primavera insieme alla seconda generazione di AirPods.
In addition to the new AirPods 2, Apple is currently testing Macs with Face ID as well as touchscreen displays. However, you shouldn’t expect a new Mac with Face ID to launch anytime soon. The current prototypes with Face ID and touchscreen are only meant for internal testing.
È doveroso dire che MySmartPrice non è una fonte affidabile in termini di rumors Apple e quindi prendete queste informazioni con le pinze.
A oggi è chiaro che l’azienda stia lavorando a portare Face ID anche su Mac, essendo che tutta la gamma di dispositivi Apple ha abbandonato, o quasi, il Touch ID a favore del riconoscimento facciale. Face ID su un notebook sarebbe molto più utile di averlo su iPhone in quanto una volta aperto lo schermo, il MacBook si sbloccherebbe immediatamente.
Per quanto riguarda il touchscreen… Per adesso dobbiamo accontentarci di Luna Display.
Steve Jobs nel 2010 disse che un notebook con touchscreen sarebbe “ergonomicamente terribile”.

Touch surfaces don’t want to be vertical. It gives great demo but after a short period of time, you start to fatigue and after an extended period of time, your arm wants to fall off. It doesn’t work, it’s ergonomically terrible.
Touch surfaces want to be horizontal, hence pads.
For a notebook, that’s why we’ve perfected our multitouch trackpads over the years because that’s the best way we’ve found to get multitouch into a notebook.
We’ve also, in essence, put a trackpad—a multitouch trackpad on the mouse with our Magic Mouse. And we’ve recently come out with a pure play trackpad as well for our desktop users.
Nonostante ciò Apple detiene numerosi brevetti riguardanti Mac touchscreen, facendo intuire un interesse seppur minimo verso questa tecnologia su notebook da parte dell’azienda di Cupertino.
