Apple ha oggi formalmente annunciato che l’acquisto del popolare sistema di riconoscimento musicale, Shazam, è in corso. Shazam è stato incorporato in Siri con il rilascio di iOS 8 ed è infatti possibile chiedere al nostro assistente vocale: “Che canzone è questa?” per aver restituito il titolo anche senza app installata.
Tom Neumayr, portavoce di Apple, ha ufficialmente confermato l’acquisizione con questo comunicato rilasciato oggi:

Since the launch of App Store, Shazam has consistently ranked as one of the most popular apps for iOS. Today, it’s used by hundreds of millions of people around the world, across multiple platforms.
Apple Music and Shazam are a natural fit, sharing a passion for music discovery and delivering great music experiences to our users. We have exciting plans in store and we look forward to combining with Shazam upon approval of today’s agreement.
Il portavoce di Shazam, Giovanni Bossio, da canto suo ha riferito:
We are excited to announce that Shazam has entered into an agreement to become part of Apple. Shazam is one of the highest rated apps in the world and loved by hundreds of millions of users and we can’t imagine a better home for Shazam to enable us to continue innovating and delivering magic for our users.
Entrambe le compagnie non hanno ancora rivelato il valore che è stato sborsato per l’acquisto.
La settimana scorsa si vociferava un prezzo che si aggirasse attorno ai $400 milioni, meno di quanto era stata precedentemente valutata.
Non è chiaro come Apple utilizzerà Shazam e se la lascerà come app standalone o se la integrerà in iTunes Store o se l’azienda di Cupertino ha altri piani segreti.
